CEOs Love My Writing. Now I'm Writing for Me.
How I'm finally committing to writing weekly fiction chapters.
Writing has been a part of me ever since elementary.
It started with me writing Naruto fanfics because I got really into Sasori x Sakura when Shippuden first came out.1 I eventually grew out of writing fanfics and into my own story.
My writing was terrible, which was warranted for an immigrant kid who was learning English at the same time.
None of my English teachers could teach me the most important aspect… grammar. Yet it was my love for creative writing (no matter how terrible I was at the craft) that pushed me to learn this elusive grammar for myself.
Now, as an adult…
I run a newsletter and a blog that’s beloved by CEOs within the niche.2 Companies seek me out when it comes to writing about their event.
And I have absolutely zero published fiction (besides the fanfics).
Sigh…
Maybe it was the lack of time. I was always busy working and putting my creativity in making YouTube videos instead of writing my story.
That was what I told myself.
But then there’s the fact that I have a hard time finishing my story. I’ll get wanderlust and move on to a whole different novel.3
I’ll let the story sit and sit and sit and sit. Until, next thing you know, it’s been five months since I’ve written anything.
One day, I finally sat down for a writing workshop.
During these sessions, one person said, “Give a deadline to your worldbuilding. Don’t just keep building and building because you’re never gonna start writing. You can continue building as you write.”
That clicked with me. I don’t know why I never thought about it.
I’m also in the middle of an ongoing series called Tearmoon Empire where the author started off writing chapters weekly, which resulted in a lot of numerous amounts of short chapters in their novel.
That’s when I got this idea.
I want to push myself and write weekly chapters. These chapters will be posted on Monday, whether I’m done with it or not.
I’ll set aside an hour every day and do nothing but write.
By the time you read this, I’m already out of my worldbuilding phase and am already writing the first chapter. I’ll give you the run down on the worldbuilding and how I got to where I was in the next article.
I’m really excited to start this project, and I hope you’ll join me for the journey.
My fanfic is actually still up on fanfiction.net. I won’t tell you what it is, though.
Look out for Ike! That’s me.
This is probably a result of my undiagnosed ADHD.
